Likewise Glyn!

It’s £3.50 for a return and Contactless is accepted - all mod cons in Reading !!!

I shall be making the effort to go to this one (!!). I hope to be in The Monks by about 12.30-12.45. Note that, due to a shortage of drivers, Reading buses have cancelled routes from some of the suburbs to the ground, forcing everyone who wants to take the bus to go into town and take it from the station, so expect the queue for the bus to be longer than usual!

The General has transferred £100 to Maggies - he has sent me the confirmation so if anyone would like to see it then please let me know. I think it was Steve Kendrick who originally suggested this - well done Kendo, great idea!

We have closed the LB account and the Gen has the remaining balance of £180. Once football with spectators has recommenced we can agree a game to put this money behind the bar beforehand, provided we can find a bar big enough to accommodate us all with self-distancing!!! Interesting times ahead....

As many of you will know, Ray Lewis sadly passed away at the age of 58 recently, and his funeral is next week. Ray was a keen supporter of the LB's, and it has been suggested that we donate £100 of the money we were going to put behind the bar to Maggies, the cancer support group based in Cardiff, whom his family have nominated for donations instead of flowers. Apparently Ray found going there comforting when he was having chemo, and made many friends there. I think this is a great idea, but if anyone has any objections please can they let me know, either here or by private message, as it is all of our money at the end of the day. If I receive no objections, then I will go ahead with the donation.

So is that a decision?  Will there be a meeting for drinks before the Fulham game? How many London Bluebirds will be able to make that game?  I'm thinking particularly of qualifying to buy a ticket. And Chris O who launched the idea says he can't be there.

Hi Sutton - provided the General pulls his finger out and arranges for the money to be available from the bank account then it is on. Even if he doesn’t, I think it’s a fair bet that some people will fancy meeting for a drink before the game! Just to clarify, whilst I support the idea, it was not my idea to put the money towards drinks before the Fulham game - that was decided by the members of this board .

I have asked the General to take the appropriate action to make the money available to buy drinks pre match at Fulham. I will not be able to go so will leave it to him to make the necessary arrangements.

Take the exit from the station marked Town Centre.

Turn right and walk down the steps and continue straight on past the hoardings of a building site (you will see the bus stop for the Mad Stad)

Take first left up, by The Grayfriars Pub and The Gateway is on your right in a minute

Enjoy!

That’s the one Paul, and you are right, it is a minute walk from the bus stop

This thread has been live for a while now and has produced an exiting and vibrant debate. 😁 The clear winner is to put the money toward drinks before a game. Things don’t tend to move too quickly, so I wouldn’t hold my breath about the money being available for a while, so how about we go for the Fulham game? Post thoughts including any objections here! I may even attend myself on the promise of a free beer!!
