Stoke Away Sat 22nd Feb 15:00

Who’s going to Stoke?

Not the best place to have a beer pre match, any suggestions welcome. I can’t recall any pubs in Stoke.

How about going to Stafford pre match? It’s only 15 minutes from Stoke.

There’s a 10:07 to Stafford.

Looking at 18:12 return from Stoke.

Stafford Wetherspoons we had a classic day in there in about 2003.

Day the storm blew down the overhead powerlines and we were stuck in Crewe and then Brum.

Re: Stoke Away Sat 22nd Feb 15:00

I’ve booked the 10:00 from Euston to Stoke.

I think I’ve found a couple of pubs which seem ok.

Returning on the 18:12.

Re: Stoke Away Sat 22nd Feb 15:00

Was at college in Stoke in the mid to late seventies so did know the area and pubs well. Of course things have changed since then used to go to the old Victoria ground regularly. I would suggest drinking in Stoke before the match as it is not too hostile at all these days and the ground is a good thirty minutes walk from the station. There are shuttle buses from near the station to the ground If no one fancies walking. Know of one pub that I used to drink in The Glebe in Glebe street near the station which should be ok though the last drink I had in there was 43 years ago. What pubs have you found Bow?

Will probably meet you off the London train if you are not stopping at Stafford.

The Glebe was one of the pubs I was thinking of.

It’s run by a company called Jouls and is a chain of pubs in the area. They also own the Coopers Tavern In Burton , which we have used previously.

I believe the shuttle bus goes from near the pub.

Hope they sell the same pies.

Re: Stoke Away Sat 22nd Feb 15:00

Joules is a Midlands brewery and they do a very good pint plenty of Joules pubs in Shrewsbury. I suggest we meet there unless anyone has a good alternative.

Stokes away section can hold 2800 so there should be no problem getting a ticket even with our recent upsurge in form.
