Brighton Away Fri 30th Dec

What's everyone's opinion on travel to this game;

I didn't do last season when some went to Lewes, is this a better option than Brighton?

We may also have to look out for strike action by Southern rail ( they seem to like a strike )

When booking rail tickets it's free travel south of Haywards Heath from 1615 - 0000.

I'm thinking of getting to HH 1530 - 1600 taking in some refreshment then heading to Brighton or Lewes.

Thoughts please.

Re: Brighton Away Fri 30th Dec

I am in London for the Xmas New year break and would like to tag along BB.
Happy to meet anyway to start the trip. Plan sounds good.

Re: Brighton Away Fri 30th Dec

I'll be there (but probably not with my pick & shovel).
Getting into Brighton at 16.20.
(Lewes not really an option from Folkestone).

Went to "The Battle Of Trafalgar" last time, so probably will head there again

Re: Brighton Away Fri 30th Dec

I can't attend this year, but last year a number of us did a small crawl of the Pubs in the Lanes not far from the station. It was good fun and an excellent atmosphere, and we bumped into a few ex-1927 Club too. Would highly recommend that rather than staying in one Pub. There are loads of Pubs all close together and never more than 15-20 minute walk from the Station.

Re: Brighton Away Fri 30th Dec

We should be ok with the planned strike action. It's a good job the game was moved from the 31st.

The latest planned strikes are listed below;

Tuesday 6 to Thursday 8 December (RMT conductors’ strike)
Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 December (ASLEF & RMT drivers’ strike)
Friday 16 December (ASLEF & RMT drivers’ strike)
Monday 19 to Tuesday 20 December (RMT conductors’ strike) – changed date

SATURDAY 31 DECEMBER TO MONDAY 2 JANUARY (RMT CONDUCTORS STRIKE)

Monday 9 to Saturday 14 January (ASLEF & RMT drivers’ strike)

Re: Brighton Away Fri 30th Dec

After the excitement of the home game, I have decided that the return match is a must see so will be going. The General is coming with me and we intend to head to the Lanes near the station for a few pre match drinks at about 5. If people feel like joining us then please call/text me on 07722 476130 and we can tell you what pub we are in!!!

Re: Brighton Away Fri 30th Dec

I've just ordered my ticket. The prospect of being caught up in the Industrial Action by Sothern Trains and stranded on a freezing cold train all night somewhere on the South Coast was just too good to miss.
