Burton Away Sat 1st Oct

This will be my first visit to Burton,

Looked at trains and I'm thinking;

Out 09:26 - 11:21 via Derby

Return 18:21 - 2030 via Derby

Re: Burton Away Sat 1st Oct

My son has decided to get married that day.
I have elected to go to the wedding.
Hoping for a move to Friday night.

Re: Burton Away Sat 1st Oct

I am up for this one.

Will probably get the x country train from reading and look to meet you there. The General  will probably come with me. Agree with Ross that we should wait in case it is swapped . Unlike Nick, I hope it isn't changed to a Friday night!!!

Chris I'm up for going from Reading with you and The General. Saves going all the way to London for me.

Excellent - quite a posse from Reading!

I will investigate trains and post on here and we can book up once we know to fixtures!

I'll look the next day.

Wedding anniversary on Wednesday 10th is my priority.

Re: Burton Away Sat 1st Oct

I've booked the trains as above.

£46 return First class.

The return First class ticket is cheaper than the standard fare.

Re: Burton Away Sat 1st Oct

I have checked out the trains for the Reading "Posse!"

Link is below on the Trainline:

https://www.thetrainline.com/buytickets/combinedmatrix.aspx?Command=TimeTable#Journey/READING/BURTON-ON-TRENT/01/10/16/11/15/Arrive Before/01/10/16/18/00/Leave After/1/0//

It ties in nicely with the London trains :

Leave 8.45 get in 11.20
Return 6.24 get in 9.08

Just under £40, but we get to travel with "the people" unlike our London cousins! Glyn and the General may get it cheaper if they have an Old Age Persons Railcard.

It doesn't look like there is much availability at those prices, so suggest we book soon if we fancy those trains. What does everyone think?
