List for Reading pub/transport to ground so far:
Chris O
Mrs O
Glyn T
Bryen
Fat Cat
Slim Cat (!)
Jo M
Neil - Ramsgate
Steve - Romford plus 2
So, total 11 so far. (Despite his earlier post, Ross cannot join us so is not on the list)
I will post details of the pub on here shortly and also look into transport to the stadium from the pub, and back to the station after. If anyone else is interested in going to the pub, or I have missed someone out(!), please post on here.
Also, I understand that the Paddington to Reading line will be shut over Easter, so you will need to get the Waterloo train to Reading, which is very slow indeed - about 1h 20m or so... If you live in West London then a coach may be better. An alternative, though expensive, option could be to take the Heathrow Express (assuming it is still running!) from Paddington and then pick up the Rail Air coach from Heathrow to Reading. If there's enough of you a taxi from Heathrow to Reading is around £50, or from Paddington to Reading around £80.

I have sorted out a pub for the Reading game – it’s the Fox and Hounds in Caversham:
They run a bus from there to the stadium at 2.15, returning after the game. Cost of a round trip is £4. It’s a 52 seater, and tickets are on a first come first served basis. I intend to get there at 12 when the pub opens and purchase tickets for everyone on this board who has indicated they are going. I had a chat with them last night and they are fine with away supporters using the bus, and children are welcome in the pub.
Directions:
Walking is probably just over 10 minutes. A taxi would take 5 minutes and cost about £6.
To walk:
Take the rear (new) exit from Reading station, signposted North Reading/Caversham.(There is a taxi rank here if you are planning on taking a taxi)
Walk to the dual carriageway, and cross over straight away at the pedestrian lights (you will be heading directly towards Sovereign House).
Once you have crossed the road, turn to your right and walk past the Covea and Thames Water buildings , and follow the road to the left.
You are now on Reading Bridge. As soon as you have crossed the Thames, take the steps on your left down to the fields below.
Take the first path on your right, past the tennis courts, and head for the road that is a few minutes directly ahead of you (walking directly away from the river), passing a football pitch en route.
Once you have got to the road, turn left and the pub is shortly on your left.
Any problems on the day call me on 07834 943 910.
The Pub does food, but there is also a Chip Shop virtually next door or a Waitrose a minute away from the Pub.

Are trains to Reading going to be seriously messed up by the railway works planned for the bank holiday weekend ?
I 'll probably drive over and leave the car near the pub. Be nice if some 1927's came along too.

Hi Glyn - I dont think there are trains between Reading and Swindon this weekend.
I think the pub has a small car park, and if not there is a car park behind Waitrose, but that is for a max of 2 hours. Street parking can be difficult as residents permits. If you come you may be better off driving from the pub to the ground, as the ground is v near the M4 and you will get away loads quicker that way.
